When packing food supplies for a backpacking trip, it is of the essence that the items you choose are lightweight and compact. For instance, although a can of soup is a great choice for a simple, satisfying meal, lugging around a bunch of metal cans will not only take space away from other necessary items, it will tire you out quickly. Many backpackers are fans of MREs, or ready-to-eat meals, but you don’t have to make a special trip to your local army surplus to get meals that are easy to pack and prepare on the trail. Here are a couple simple video recipes using foods that are commonly found in a regular grocery that will please the palate and provide you with much-needed energy on the trail.
