It’s A Cat’s World

cat eye 300x198 Its A Cats WorldFeline species are found in nearly every corner of the world, in every climate and landscape, and they are some of the most cunning and beautiful animals found in nature. Even the domestic house cat still bears many similarities to the predator cats of the world, which you can readily observe whenever there’s anything pounce-worthy within the cat’s finely-tuned field of sensory perception.

Although cats today are separated into two extant subfamilies, all cats are descendants of the same ancestor, which originated in Asia roughly 25 million years ago. Despite the family dividing into 41 known species today, felines of all species share the same traits, with flexible but muscular limbs, retractable claws, razor sharp vision, and nocturnal proclivities. And even though some big cats are demonized because of their unfortunate interactions with humans due to our encroachment on their habitat, there is no denying that the world is fascinated with cats. So in honor of Caturday, we bring you this lovely gallery of cats big and small!
