If you enjoy the thrill of the action in Las Vegas but are also interested in exploring its vast nature, you can easily combine both pleasures by staying at some incredible campsites found just outside the glittering city. Here’s a quick look at some of the best places to camp near the non-stop hustle and bustle of Las Vegas.

1. Red Rock Campground

Locating in the western portion of the valley near Red Rock, this facility allows tent camping and allows for both cars and RVs. There are both restrooms and running water at this facility. There is also a nearby grocery store, so campers can stock up on any supplies they forgot to bring. This is a beautiful and scenic campground that attracts people from all over the world. At night, the glow of neon can be seen from the city of Las Vegas. Although only a few miles away, the campgrounds are in a desolate area and the night sky is filled with stars. In the summer time, it is much cooler in Red Rock than Las Vegas due to its higher elevation.

2. Spring Mountain Ranch State Park

For those who love the idea of Red Rock, Spring Mountain Ranch State Park is even better. Located further to the west and outside of the valley, it is found in the Spring Mountains and on the edge of the desert to the east where the city of Las Vegas lies. This area has a natural water source and was a popular place for camping as well as settlers in the area more than 200 years ago. The great attraction for many people is the numerous winding trails that are ideal for hiking. Campers find this area to be both quiet and peaceful.

3. Lake Mead National Recreation Area

This is one of the best places to camp for those that also enjoy fishing. Located on Lake Mead, southeast of Las Vegas, there are plenty of camping amenities and also a well stocked lake with bass and other fish. Boat rentals are also available, and there are a variety of activities on the lake. This campground is a popular destination for those living outside of the state of Nevada as well as the locals.
